Day  26 | HOPE WAITS
HOPE WAITS

Psalm 130:1-2, 5-7
“Out of the depths I cry to you, Lord; Lord, hear my voice. Let your ears be attentive to my cry for mercy.
“I wait for the Lord, my whole being waits, and in his word I put my hope. I wait for the Lord more than watchmen wait for the morning, more than watchmen wait for the morning.  Israel, put your hope in the Lord, for with the Lord is unfailing love and with him is full redemption.”

Have you ever felt like crying out to the LORD? Maybe to complain?  Maybe to beseech Him for an answer to prayer?  Maybe tears of gratitude for answered prayer or for His mercy?  Maybe out of deep pain?

The Psalmist begins here by crying out to the LORD, asking for mercy from Yahweh, the Creator of the universe.  But this isn’t just a simple cry or a simple wait.  The Psalmist says, “… my whole being waits …”

We are so anti-waiting today… about everything.  We want everything NOW, instantly, and exactly as we want it.

Sometimes, we “demand” that type of immediacy from God too, without realizing it.  It’s not that we’re trying to be disrespectful; it’s just that WAITING is not in our gear ratio… especially now in the Internet-saturated 21st century.

The Psalmist wrote: “I wait for the Lord, my whole being waits, and in his word I put my hope. I wait for the Lord more than watchmen wait for the morning, more than watchmen wait for the morning.”

HOPE… waits.  HOPE – that confident expectation – doesn’t put time limits on Almighty God.  We learn to WAIT for HIM, for He knows the BEST time for everything.

Prayer: LORD, help me to slow down and come and wait for You.  Please remind me to wait with my WHOLE being. Amen.
