Day 24 | WAITING FOR GOD
WAITING FOR GOD
Psalm 62
“My soul waits in silence for God alone; From Him comes my salvation. He alone is my rock and my salvation, My stronghold; I will not be greatly shaken. How long will you attack a man, That you may murder him, all of you, Like a leaning wall, like a tottering fence?
They have planned only to thrust him down from his high position; They delight in falsehood; They bless with their mouth, But inwardly they curse. Selah
My soul, wait in silence for God alone, For my hope is from Him. He alone is my rock and my salvation, My refuge; I will not be shaken. My salvation and my glory rest on God; The rock of my strength, my refuge is in God. Trust in Him at all times, you people; Pour out your hearts before Him;God is a refuge for us. Selah.” (NASB)
Here is the entire Psalm 62 as written by David. I put in the Psalm as a whole to let it speak to each of us.
We are so busy in this life. So busy with things on our calendar, with things NOT on our calendar.
I love how David inserts “Selah” twice into this Psalm. A music term (like a rest) means here to pause and ponder what has just been said (or sung). That itself is a life lesson – to pause and ponder. To “wait in silence for God alone.” And why not? If indeed God is our HOPE, then He is our salvation and glory and rock and strength and refuge… just as David says here.
I encourage you to read it through AGAIN. And pause and ponder at each SELAH. And ask the LORD what He wants you to glean from this fantastic Psalm.
Prayer: LORD, I admit I rush through things. Help me to learn to WAIT for You in silence. YOU are my HOPE. You are my ROCK, my SALVATION, my REFUGE, and so much more. Thank You for all you have done for me. Amen.
