40 Days of HOPE
Day  18 | HOPE THAT WILL NOT BE CRUSHED
HOPE THAT WILL NOT BE CRUSHED

1 Peter 1:3-4
“The wicked will go down to the grave. This is the fate of all the nations who ignore God. But the needy will not be ignored forever; the hopes of the poor will not always be crushed.”

The world is now – and has always been – a battleground of sorts.  Oh sure, there have been “wars and rumors of wars,” but there has also been a war against God’s people. Since the beginning of time (Genesis), the enemy of our faith (Satan) has been leading bad people to IGNORE God and doing wicked things to those who love God.

So, WHAT does the wicked man (or woman) forget about God?
* The infinite majesty and glory of God.
* The mercies of God.
* The laws of God.
* The presence of God.
* The justice of God.

And WHY do the wicked forget God?
* Because the thought of God makes them afraid.
* Because the thought of God doesn’t entertain them enough.
* Because the thought of God makes it hard to carry on in sin.

Charles Spurgeon said it this way: “The forgetters of God are far more numerous than the profane or profligate … (forgetting God) seems a small sin, but it brings eternal wrath upon the man who lives and dies in it.”

Then peeking through all of this is HOPE: “But the needy will not be ignored forever; the hopes of the poor will not always be crushed.”

HOPE – our confident expectation – still LIVES and is available for ANYONE who will remember ALL that the LORD has done: His infinite majesty and glory, His mercies, His laws, His presence, and His justice.

Whatever you’re going through, remember… remember and have HOPE.  Easter brings HOPE which should surround us with JOY 365 days a year!

PRAYER: Lord, I do remember!  I do rejoice in You!  My HOPE, my expectation, is fixed on You, and I am confident.  Thank You that I am on the winning side!  Amen.
