40 Days of HOPE
Day 10 | THE DIVINE GUARANTEE
THE DIVINE GUARANTEE
Ephesians 1:18
“I also pray that you will have a greater understanding in your heart so you will know the hope to which he has called us and that you will know how rich and glorious are the blessings God has promised his holy people.”
Do you have a drawer or file folder someplace in which you keep all your “guarantees” that you’ve gotten on things you purchased through the years? Does that give you a feeling of comfort that at least you’ll get a year or whatever life out of the item before it quits working?
You see, we are all used to things NOT lasting very long. They are usually made to become obsolete or inoperable so that we eventually have to buy another. In other words, it’s hard to know what or who you can truly depend on.
Paul, writing here to the Ephesians, was telling them WHO they could depend on.
The Amplified Bible defines HOPE as: “the divine guarantee, the confident expectation.”
So, Paul here was praying that the Holy Spirit might enlighten them to cherish the DIVINE GUARANTEE, the confident expectation to which they were called.
Isn’t that a fantastic way to look at HOPE? A Divine Guarantee. A promise from Almighty God Himself to YOU.
So, what has God promised His people? His HOLY people?
When we step over the line – as some of us like to say – and make Jesus Christ Savior and Lord, we become a “child of God” – as referenced in John 1:12. And I know that – even though I’m not perfect – if I make a promise to my children, I do my absolute best to make it happen.
God – who is never late and cannot lie – has made promises to us, His children. And that should give you and me GREAT HOPE.
Prayer: Thank You, Lord, for ALL the promises in the Scriptures. Thank You that you ALWAYS keep your word. It is my divine guarantee! Amen.
