40 Days of HOPE
Day 6 | FINALLY FINISHED
FINALLY FINISHED
Philippians 1:6
“And I am certain that God, who began the good work within you, will continue his work until it is finally finished on the day when Christ Jesus returns.” (NLT)
Ever had a project you never quite got around to? Or one you started but didn’t finish? Have you got something like that now? Something that’s waiting for the right moment, the right time, the right circumstances to get completed?
A new study says the average American household has nine unfinished DIY projects waiting for completion. The study went on to say that “starting is easy, but finishing, not so much.” The same article went on to say perhaps our national motto should be, “United, we slack!”
I’m thankful that my growing into Christlikeness is not a DIY project. Sure, I have my part in becoming more and more like Jesus, but ultimately, the God of the Universe through the all-powerful and knowing Holy Spirit, will see to it that I will arrive at that destination.
The LORD led the Apostle Paul to write this letter to the church he planted in the Greek city of Philippi. Which is why we have Philippians 1:6.
This is a verse of Scripture that is FULL of HOPE! I mean, think about it… doesn’t it seem at times that we’ll NEVER become fully like Jesus? Our attitudes, words, feelings, and faith sometimes seem so far from what we see in Jesus. Yet this verse provides a big dose of HOPE that by HIS power, by HIS grace, by HIS design, because of the good work that the Spirit started in us when we stepped over the line and became a Christian, He “will continue his work until it is finally finished on the day when Christ Jesus returns.”
Prayer: LORD, it’s fantastic that you continue to lead me, talk to me, guide me and make me day by day into the image of your Son, Jesus. Thank You for all that you’ve done to date and all that you’ll do in your perfect timing. Amen.
