Day  4 |  HOPE IN GOD’S WORD
HOPE IN GOD’S WORD

Psalm 119:113-114
“I hate those with divided loyalties, but I love your instructions. You are my refuge and my shield; your word is my source of hope.”

Psalm 119 – the longest chapter in the entire Bible – is full of richness about God’s Word.
You see, God’s Word – His promises to us, His children – are the KEY to enjoying all the faith, hope, and love that the LORD wants to pour out on us in abundance… SO that we will have plenty to share with others around us who are in need.

If we’re honest, there have been times in all of our lives when we’ve had “divided loyalties,” just as David mentions here.  Times when we KNEW the right thing to do but chose to do something else.  The Scripture calls that SIN, a word that if you say it around an unbeliever, he or she might “go off” on you.

We’re living in a time that surprises me. Though God – who knows everything – knew this time was coming.  A time when Christians are being demonized, the Bible is being trivialized, and God is being marginalized… right here in America.

Frankly, it can be discouraging and depressing to see the changes being made and our freedoms being dissolved right where we live.

So, what to do about it?

We can start by re-reading these verses.  Then be wary of being influenced by “double-minded” people – those who say one thing and live another.

Stay in God’s Word daily (His “instructions”), see the LORD as your “refuge and shield” against all the fiery arrows coming at us daily, and remember that God’s Word is designed – in part – to provide us the HOPE we need each day.

Prayer: LORD, I admit that I do need Your HOPE every day.  Help me spend time with YOU and in Your Word daily, and by doing so, enjoy your daily rest and refuge! Amen.
