Day  2 | WHERE IT ALL STARTED
WHERE IT ALL STARTED

Genesis 1:1
“In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth.”
(NKJV)

Everything begins here. Creation. Ex-nihilo (from Latin meaning “from nothing.”)

God, Elohim (in Hebrew) is the uncaused, first cause. He started it all.

The first law of thermodynamics states that “matter” (the stuff of which everything is made) cannot be made or destroyed. And some argue that the idea of God creating everything from nothing is not holding to this natural law. I agree; it’s because God is SUPERNATURAL, beyond science, beyond the natural, beyond our limited intellect and comprehension!

And yet verse one – ten words – tells us ALL we need to know about EVERYTHING. It doesn’t tell us HOW God did it, just that He DID it. And what an appropriate way to begin the Bible by introducing us to THE Creator. Bang!

Accepting those ten words lays a solid foundation for ALL that follows in all 66 books of our Bible. The first four words are enough: “In the beginning, GOD.”

People who have difficulty believing the Bible stumble here. It’s not that they have a better explanation of how EVERYTHING came into existence; it’s more often that they do NOT want to acknowledge the existence of God because in doing that, they might have to be accountable to Him – and many people HATE that prospect.

But, for we who love the LORD, this verse is awe-inspiring, encouraging, and life-giving. We realize there is ONE TRUE GOD, and later in His Book, we learn how to have a relationship with the LORD GOD through His Son Jesus. Wow.

Prayer: Heavenly Father, Almighty God, Creator of everything, thank YOU for allowing me to become one of your children through Your Son Jesus. I am amazed by YOU. Amen.
