40 Days of TRUST
Day 22 | WHERE TO FIND PEACE
WHERE TO FIND PEACE
(Part 2)
Isaiah 26:3
“You will guard him and keep him in perfect and constant peace whose mind (both its inclination and its character) is stayed on You because he commits himself to you, leans on you, and hopes confidently in you.” (AMP)
Have you ever watched a violent lightning storm? Here in San Diego we really don’t have such a thing, but I can remember times in Kansas when we were visiting my grandparents, watching with wonder the streak lightning that was part of a heavy rainstorm. In fact, I remember one time when I went out into the middle of the yard, during a lightning storm, with my camera and tripod in order to get a photo. (I think my wife and parents thought I was nuts… which, in retrospect, I probably was!)
During such storms, the lightning is sporadic, yet relentless. There seems to be no reason or rhyme and we have very little ability to predict where the next strike will come from.
This is quite similar to the onslaught of negative attacks today that we all face from negative words, TV programming, news sources, political speeches and on and on. You never know WHERE the next volley will come from and they seem unrelenting.
The Prophet Isaiah tells us though, that in order to have “perfect and constant peace,” we must keep our minds FOCUSED on God. The KJV says, “Thou will keep him in perfect peace whose mind is stayed on Thee because he trusts in Thee.”
We MUST keep our minds focused on the LORD… His abilities, His knowledge, His comfort, His shepherding. We must TRUST Him and lean on Him.
But the payoff is: PEACE. Peace of mind, peace of spirit, peace of emotions.
As with anything, it is a choice and even Christians can choose NOT to do so. I encourage you to DO what it says.
Prayer: LORD, I DO want to have perfect peace. Help me to keep my mind on YOU. Amen.
