Day 21 | WHERE TO FIND PEACE
40 Days of TRUST
Day 21 | WHERE TO FIND PEACE
WHERE TO FIND PEACE
(Part 1)
Isaiah 26:3
“Thou will keep him in perfect peace whose mind is stayed on Thee because he trusts in Thee.”
I memorized that verse decades ago in the old KJV translation. But the meaning is the same in any translation.
We want something – “perfect peace.”
Think about that for a minute. With ALL that’s going on in the world today – and even if you read this ten years from when I’m writing it there will still be LOTS going on in the world that day – we want something more… we want PEACE… perfect, simple, peace.
And we look everywhere for it: TV, entertainment, sports, YouTube, our computers, texting, emailing, drugs, excess alcohol, hitting the “like” button and on and on.
And yet, even for Believers in Jesus, perhaps the last place we truly expect to find peace is in the Lord our God.
Why don’t we turn to God if we want peace?
Because, we haven’t learned to truly TRUST HIM in all things. We haven’t learned to THINK about Him in all circumstances. We haven’t learned to truly CAST our care on Him. We haven’t learned to BELIEVE that He knows, cares and can do something about our problems.
And let me add, that even IF you have learned to keep your mind on HIM and TRUST in Him, you must continue to work at it. Like muscles that must continually be exercised, our TRUSTING in Him and keeping our MINDS FOCUSED on Him, also needs to be continually utilized and exercised. There is no resting on your laurels!
Prayer: Lord, help me to remember that like physical exercise, my spiritual life also needs to be exercised so that it can grow and my trust in You can grow also. Amen.
