40 Days of TRUST
Day 19 | DON’T GROW WEARY
DON’T GROW WEARY
Galatians 6:9
“And let us not grow weary while doing good, for in due season we shall reap if we do not lose heart.”
In Psalm 37:3 we read, “Trust in the Lord and do good, so shall you dwell in the land, and verily you shall be fed.” (KJV)
The questions sometimes come up, “Ok, I did some good, I helped someone out like the verse said, where’s God?”
Throughout Scripture, we have agricultural illustrations. That makes sense given the era in which the Old and New Testaments occurred. But even today, we “get it” when people talk about growing things.
Let’s say you decide to plant tomatoes. You get the container, get the seeds, get the soil, and plant the seeds as per the label. You water, make sure there’s adequate sunshine, and then go about your life.
A few days go by, and you check out the containers and see nothing. No tomatoes, no plant, no seedling.
So, do you throw the containers out? Or dig up the soil to see what’s happening? Get frustrated and figure your “How to Grow Tomatoes” book is a hoax?
That would be kind of foolish, right?
Similarly, God says: “While the earth remaineth, seedtime and harvest, and cold and heat, and summer and winter, and day and night shall not cease.” (Genesis 8:22, KJV)
Thus, don’t quit doing good, for “in due season you SHALL reap” if you don’t give up.
“And don’t allow yourselves to be weary or disheartened in planting good seeds, for the season of reaping the wonderful harvest you’ve planted is coming!” (Galatians 6:9, TPT)
Prayer: LORD, everything happens so fast today, the internet, cooking in the microwave, TV from around the world, help me to not confuse those things with the process of “seedtime and harvest.” That still takes time. Help me NOT to grow weary but to continue look expectantly for “the harvest” in due season. Amen.
