Day  18 | HOW BEST TO FILL YOUR THOUGHTS
HOW BEST TO FILL YOUR THOUGHTS

Colossians 3:2
“Yes, feast on all the treasures of the heavenly realm and fill your thoughts with heavenly realities, and not with the distractions of the natural realm.”
(TPT)

“Trust God” – it's easy to say. It’s also easy NOT to say.  And it’s easy to NOT do.

Colossians 3:2 goes along well with Psalm 37:3, which we’ve been pondering this week, in that it says WHERE we should let our thinking go.  We need to FILL our thoughts with heavenly realities.

The NKJV puts Colossians 3:2 succinctly – “Set your mind on things above, not on things of earth.”   It needs to be a priority.

Now you might ask, “Really?  How is that possible?  I have a job. I have a car payment, I have a spouse and children, so HOW is that possible?”

The first of the 10 Commandments is: “I am the LORD your God … You shall have no other gods before me.” (Exodus 20)

Have you ever planned a vacation several months (or longer) in advance and then, from time, think about it and get happy in anticipation?  It doesn’t require 24 hours a day, it doesn’t mean you can’t work or spend time with your family or friends; it’s just that you’re looking forward and becoming excited.

Couldn’t you do that about heaven and seeing the LORD there?

How much time this week have you spent thinking about God? Only on Sunday when you took in your church’s one-hour church service? (Let’s see, there are 168 hours in a week… 1 hour… hmmm.)

The world has many distractions, BUT if you want to ENJOY life more than you are now, you need to prioritize doing life God’s way.

Prayer: Lord, thank YOU for all the help you offer me as I grow as a child of Yours.  I don’t want to be full of fear, doubt, and worry – and I know You offer a way to faith, hope, and love.  Help me to learn how to do it YOUR way.  Amen.
