Day 16 | TRUST GOD AND DO GOOD
TRUST GOD AND DO GOOD
(Part 1)
Psalm 37:3
“Trust (lean on, rely on, and be confident) in the Lord and do good; so shall you dwell in the land and feed surely on His faithfulness, and truly you shall be fed.” (AMPC)
Here we find one of God’s promises to His children that if we TRUST God AND “do good,” not only will we be fed, but I see it as promising that we will enjoy contentment and joy in our souls.
Trusting God is of great benefit to the child of God. It allows us to enjoy life rather than just tolerate it. And yet, God allows us to CHOOSE to trust Him and do good… or not.
Trusting the LORD means we “CAST our cares on Him” (1 Peter 5:7) and choose to turn our worry into worship, panic into praise, and fear into faith. “For God has NOT given us the spirit of fear but of power and of love and of a sound mind.” (2 Timothy 1:7).
To apply this verse, we need to TRUST Him in every area of our lives. But then, we also need to “do good.”
Galatians 6:10 tells us: “Therefore, as we have the opportunity, let us do good to all people, especially to those who belong to the family of believers.” (NIV).
Thus, instead of praying, “Ok Lord, I’m trusting in You. Now, here’s what I need,” we should pray, “Lord, I’m trusting in You to work out this situation. NOW, is there anything You need for me to do?” And then LISTEN. He may speak to you through Scripture, through other Christians, or through circumstances. But if something comes to mind for you to do, and it makes some sense, then DO IT. (If you’re unsure, perhaps bounce it off of a mature Christian friend who might be able to confirm the Spirit’s leading.)
Prayer: Lord, help me look for ways to DO GOOD to others, especially those brothers and sisters in Christ who are around me. I DO desire to TRUST You and DO good. Amen.
