Day 12 | TRUSTING GOD TO BE FAITHFUL
TRUSTING GOD TO BE FAITHFUL
1 Corinthians 1:9
“God is faithful [He is reliable, trustworthy and ever true to His promise—He can be depended on], and through Him you were called into fellowship with His Son, Jesus Christ our Lord.” (AMP)
As we continue through these times where the appeal to get negative, dark and depressed is REAL, I want to remind you that “God is faithful.” The Amplified Bible goes on to define “faithful” as “He is reliable, trustworthy and ever true to His promise—He can be depended on.”
How many people can YOU say that about? How many people, when they promise you something, could you bet your life on?
You see, it’s again an issue of TRUST (thus the 40 Days of Trust series we’re in.)
If someone off the street whom you had never met before, came to your front door and offered you something for free, would you TRUST him completely? (If “yes,” then contact me, I have a bridge I’d like to sell you… Ha!)
No. Why? Because we don’t KNOW that person and have no reason to trust him.
Trust is something that takes TIME to build. Usually – and especially if we grow to the point of trusting someone unconditionally – it takes MANY years. Then, if you’ve been “burned” before by someone, it may take many more years before you can trust again.
Paul is telling the church here in Corinth (and it applies to us today), that GOD is faithful – reliable, trustworthy, ever true to HIS promise, and dependable.
Do you believe that about God too?
If so – GREAT!
If not… would you like to get to that place in your relationship with Him?
Here’s what it takes: TIME. Quality time. More than just attending church now and then, more than just praying for a meal occasionally, more than reading the Christmas story from Luke 2. Those are all good things to do and they can help, but it takes TIME and purposeful action to develop a RELATIONSHIP with God through His Son Jesus Christ.
Prayer: LORD, help me to grow my relationship in You. I want more than religion… I want to KNOW You. I want a RELATIONSHIP. I want to grow my TRUST in You. I want to be CLOSER to You. Amen.
