Day 11 | TRUSTING GOD FOR OUR REST
TRUSTING GOD FOR OUR REST
Matthew 11:28
“Come to me, all you who labor and are heavy-laden and overburdened, and I will give you rest.” (AMP)
Are you feeling exhausted? Obviously, Jesus saw the same things in his time which is why He said what He did in Matthew 11.
The issue though is focus and trust.
“Come unto me” – Jesus turns no one away. And that’s probably good news for some reading this… you may be feeling as if your life of late doesn’t qualify you to come into the presence of the LORD Jesus Christ.
But, the invitation IS open to YOU too.
What is required is TRUST. You and I need to TRUST that when we come to Him:
1) He’ll not turn us away.
2) He’ll help us with our heavy load of whatever it is we’re carrying.
Some commentators see the word “labor” as burdens we take on ourselves, and “heavy-laden” as burdens others put on us.
The BIG problem we have today – as back then – is PRIDE. Like a little two-year-old, we don’t want to ask for HELP, we want to “do it ourselves.”
But the problems of this life and this time in world history are TOO HEAVY for you and I. We need help. We need someone stronger. We need the LORD.
Turn to HIM when you’re hurting, worried, fearful or heavy-laden. Remember, HE cares for His children.
Prayer: LORD, forgive me for being so slow to turn to you. I confess that I am worried, upset, fearful and bothered. But, I also know that none of those emotions will accomplish anything. So, help me to CAST my burden on you and to come to you all day long, for the rest and unburdening only YOU can provide. Help me to keep my FOCUS fixed on YOU. Amen.
