Day 8 | TRUSTING GOD IN HOW WE LIVE WITH ONE ANOTHER
TRUSTING GOD IN HOW WE LIVE WITH ONE ANOTHER
Romans 12:9-16
“Love must be sincere. Hate what is evil; cling to what is good. Be devoted to one another in love. Honor one another above yourselves. Never be lacking in zeal, but keep your spiritual fervor, serving the Lord. Be joyful in hope, patient in affliction, faithful in prayer. Share with the Lord’s people who are in need. Practice hospitality. Bless those who persecute you; bless and do not curse. Rejoice with those who rejoice; mourn with those who mourn. Live in harmony with one another.” (NLT)
Here the Lord tells us through Paul’s writings, HOW we are to live with one another. In fact, there are some 59 “one-another” statements in the New Testament. We are NOT commanded to live a hermit-Christian life, but we DO sometimes need reminders of HOW to live harmoniously with one another.
Key words that stick out are: love, cling, good, devoted, honoring, serving, joyful, hope, patient, faithful, prayer, sharing, hospitality.
Each one could easily be a page, but suffice it to say that Paul was instructing the Roman Christians then (and we Christians today) on HOW to get along with each another.
There is so MUCH divisiveness in the world today… and it carries over sometimes to the church as well. HOWEVER, if we are one in Christ, then there should be no divisiveness. Yes, we may disagree over the color of the carpet, the length of the church service or who should be President. BUT if we get angry with one another, he who has gotten angry is guilty of SIN.
Keep your eyes on Jesus. Re-read these verses from Paul and “be devoted to one another in love.”
Prayer, Lord these are tough times in many ways. Unique and unsettling. But thank YOU that YOU have a road-map for us, Your children. Help me to follow it and show my LOVE for You and my LOVE for others, every day. Amen.
