Day 6 | FATHER KNOWS BEST
FATHER KNOWS BEST
Jeremiah 29:11
“‘For I know the plans I have for you,’ declares the LORD, ‘plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.’”
Back in the late ‘50s (now on reruns) there was a TV show named “Father Knows Best.” A cute show where the dad eventually had to figure things out, solve the problems, and give guidance to the family.
The era in which this show played was also a time when church attendance in America was HIGH and even non-Christians showed respect for the “Good Book” or the “Man Upstairs.”
As I think about the title of that program now, I can’t help but think about our Heavenly Father and the fact that He DOES know best.
I remember when I became the pastor of The Lake Church. People were discouraged and anxious about the “new guy” and wondering what – if anything – the future held for the church.
My first message was on this verse. The Lord had led me to this verse – which inspired and comforted me – and my message did the same for the church when I preached it that Sunday. (Thanks, Holy Spirit!)
So, let me ask, whatever your age, whatever your health, whatever your abilities, whatever your feelings; Do you wonder if the LORD has a plan for you today, tomorrow, next week?
Let me say this: HE DOES! Regardless of all the things you can’t do, God can use the things that you CAN do to bless, help, and encourage others – IF – you will let Him use you.
As a Believer in Christ, your future is secure. But wherever you are in life, God wants to use you to touch others for His honor and glory.
Prayer: Lord, show me each day what You would have me to do. Who You would have me talk to. What You’d have me say. For YOU truly do know best. Amen.
