40 Days of TRUST
Day  2 | WHO DO YOU TRUST?
WHO DO YOU TRUST?

Psalm 28:7-8
“The LORD is my strength and shield. I trust him with all my heart. He helps me, and my heart is filled with joy. I burst out in songs of thanksgiving. The LORD gives his people strength.”

Question: Is there any person you trust? I mean REALLY trust with all your heart?  Perhaps your spouse?  Perhaps a parent? Perhaps an adult child? Perhaps a close-close friend?

Next question: HOW did you come to TRUST that person so well that you would trust him/her with “all your heart” (aka your “life”)?

One of the things I know, is that it takes TIME to develop that kind of trust.  It doesn’t happen overnight, or in a week, or even two.  It takes YEARS to develop that kind of total trust in a person – whomever it is – until he/she has proved him/herself over and over and over and over again to the point that you KNOW that you can fully trust them.  Yet that trust is fragile too… and years of building trust can be shattered in a day.

This psalm of David shows that kind of trust in God.  (Perhaps this is one of the KEYS that caused God to have such a high regard overall for David.)

This psalm shows David – the son of Jesse – once again crying out to God and then declaring that the LORD is his strength and shield, and that David would trust God with all his heart.

As he continues, he declares that the Lord helps him and thus his heart is filled with JOY and he breaks out with songs of thanksgiving!  Then he adds that the LORD gives his people strength.
Would like a dose of what David had? JOY, a thankful heart, God’s help, God’s strength?

Then do what David did.  Spend TIME with God… quality time… every day. Talk to God every day.  Let the LORD show Himself powerful and trustworthy to you, as He did to David.

Prayer: LORD, I do want to have the kind of trust relationship with You that David had.  Lead me – day by day – to do the things that I need to do to develop that total trust in You.  Amen.
