INSPIRED BY GOD

2 Timothy 3:16-17
“All Scripture is inspired by God and beneficial for teaching, for rebuke, for correction, for training in righteousness; so that the man or woman of God may be fully capable, equipped for every good work.”
 (NASB)

Our Bibles are amazing. The sixty-six books of the Bible were written by 40 different authors, separated in time by over 1500 years, and yet, the Bible tells one united story about God and His love for us.

How can that be? How is it that prophecies in the Old Testament were accurately fulfilled in the New Testament? How could the prophets have known?

Because… God inspires ALL Scripture. "Inspired" in this context means "God-breathed." That's why God's Word is “ALIVE, powerful, and sharper than any two-edged sword!” (Hebrews 4:12)

Further, Peter tells us something important: "Know this first of all, that no prophecy of Scripture is a matter of one's own interpretation, for no prophecy was ever made by an act of human will, but men moved by the Holy Spirit spoke from God" (2 Peter 1:20-21).

And because He is Omniscient (He knows everything), Omnipotent (He is all-powerful), and Omnipresent (He is everywhere)… God is perfectly capable of inspiring and leading the Biblical writers to write precisely what He wanted to be written.

And consider the outcome of that writing: that WE might learn about God and come to know Him through a personal relationship with Him through His Son, Jesus the Christ.

Further, we learn that these inspired Words of God can teach, lead, correct, and train us so that we – Followers of Jesus – might become fully capable and equipped for every good work that God has for us to do.

The accuracy of prophecies and everything the Scriptures talk about is fantastic and seem to go against all odds! But that is because these are the TRUE Words of God, in written form, for OUR benefit.

Prayer: LORD, thank You for Your Word. Thank You for leading and inspiring the writers by Your Holy Spirit to tell us in writing what You want us to know so that we can live our lives in a manner pleasing to You – now – and for eternity! Amen.
