Day  37 | DOES GOD LOVE ME?
DOES GOD LOVE ME?

Romans 5:8
“But God clearly shows and proves His own love for us, by the fact that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us.”
(AMP)

Surveys show that most people on earth believe in God. And I suspect that many of those folks wonder from time to time if God loves them.

Have you ever tried to assess or quantify how MUCH someone you know loves you – a family member or friend? How much do you love each of those closest to you?

As I write this, it’s less than two weeks until Christmas, when we Christians celebrate the birth of Jesus Christ, the Son of the Living God.

So, what’s the Big Deal?

Jesus’ birth begins a journey resulting in Christ’s death on the cross and resurrection from the dead! (We really can’t truly separate Christmas from Easter.)

But let me ask: would you sacrifice one of your children for the benefit of other people?

That’s precisely what God did for us.

John 15:13 teaches:  "Greater love has no man than this, that a man lay down his life for his friends." (RSV)

So, what does all of this mean to us today?

It means that God REALLY loves you. I know sometimes it doesn’t feel that way, and sometimes we know that we don’t deserve His love, but He does anyway.

You see, YOU are one of God’s unique creations. And He loves the people He created in His image SO MUCH that He provided a way – through His Son – that we could all live with Him in heaven for all eternity.

You will never be “good enough” in your efforts to qualify for forgiveness and eternity in heaven, but Christ died for YOUR benefit.

Romans 10:9 says: “If we confess with our mouth that Jesus is Lord, and believe in our heart that God raised Him from the dead, we shall be saved.”

Prayer: LORD, I ask that everyone reading this devotional will make (or have already made) the decision to accept Jesus Christ as Savior and Lord. Amen.
