Day 6 |GOD IS WITH YOU
GOD IS WITH YOU

Deuteronomy 31:6
“Be strong and courageous, do not be afraid or tremble in dread before them, for it is the Lord your God who goes with you.  He will not fail you or abandon you.”
(AMP)

Let’s face it; many things in life can cause us to be timid, afraid, or downright frightened.  Some even have opportunities to “do good,” from which they shy away because of feeling uncomfortable or in dread.

Yet, what does this verse say?  “Go ahead, back down, shy away, and take the easy out?  Don’t say or do the difficult thing.  Play it safe?”  NO!

Moses was 120 years old when he wrote this.  He was telling his people that he was done, that it was time to retire.  Joshua would be their new leader. And besides, God had told Moses he would NOT be going into the Promised Land.

So, the folks were understandably upset and afraid.  For 40 years, they had known ONLY Moses’ leadership, and that he did an excellent job of following the Almighty “I Am.”

I’m guessing not many reading this are being asked of God to lead a few million people into a new land.  But the principle of this verse holds true for us today too.

First, we are commanded to “be strong and courageous.”  Much like yesterday’s verse, from this verse we can learn not to be controlled by fear.  Why?  Because the Lord God is WITH US, HE will not fail or abandon us.

Immanuel – a word we often hear at Christmas – means “God with us.”

Say “God is with me” slowly, 5 or 6 times.  Let it sink in.  Then, when faced with a challenging situation later today, tomorrow, or sometime this week, say, “God is with me” … and thank Him for that promise.

Prayer: LORD, forgive me when I shy away from something because my natural feelings are forgetting that YOU are WITH ME and that You will not abandon me.  Therefore, I can be strong and courageous with whatever comes my way.  Thank You. Amen.
