THE BEGINNING OF EVERYTHING
Genesis 1:1
“In the beginning, God created the heavens and the earth.”
Everything we know has a beginning and an ending. We are born; we die. We build houses that are later torn down and rebuilt or replaced. We find cars on the showroom floor and years later in the junkyard. It’s how things work.
This verse of ten words, Genesis 1:1, is THE KEY to understanding everything in life.
The first four words are the core: “In the beginning, God...” If you can accept those four words, the entire Bible comes alive! If you reject those four words, you are choosing to live in ignorance.
The beauty of those ten words is that they put everything in perspective. They are foundational to everything in life. They point to THE Greatest Creator, Who is able to do exceeding, abundantly beyond anything we could think or imagine. Only an all-powerful, all-knowing God, an Intelligent Designer, could have created everything: the sun, moon, stars, galaxies… everything. Consider everything that the Hubble and the new Webb telescopes can SEE is only a tiny piece of ALL that our Creator has created. Consider the variety within the animal kingdom, the plants, the insects, and on and on. Our Creator – our “in the beginning God” – also set our planet earth to be ideally situated from the sun, in a perfect orbit that allows us to live here.
So, what do YOU do with Genesis 1:1? For me, I humbly bow and thank GOD for Who He is. As I said earlier, if you take that approach, the entire Bible and ALL that God has and is doing comes alive… becomes REAL.
Prayer: God, YOU are amazing. I can’t even begin to imagine your capability. But I’m thankful that, through your Son Jesus, I can have a relationship with You which will last eternally. Amen.
