Day 39| ONE ANOTHER
ONE ANOTHER

Romans 12:9-12
“Don’t just pretend to love others.  Really love them.  Hate what is wrong.  Hold tightly to what is good. Love each other with genuine affection, and take delight in honoring each other. Never be lazy, but work hard and serve the Lord enthusiastically. Rejoice in our confident hope.  Be patient in trouble, and keep on praying.”
(NLT)

The New Testament has many “one-another” verses that discuss how we are to treat one another in the Body of Christ.

Paul here is giving some excellent teaching from the Holy Spirit about how we are to deal with and treat one another.

Here we read that we are to love one another with a real, genuine, honoring love.  Stop for a moment and consider why the Spirit led Paul to put those descriptors there.  For example, verse 9 says: “Don’t just PRETEND to love others, really love them! … Hold tightly to what is good.”

Years ago, a famous Christian businessman who I regularly read and heard speak (He’s now in heaven) used to talk about the idea of becoming a “good finder.” He was promoting the idea of going around your company or in life LOOKING for people doing something right, something positive, something good… and then complementing them!

That’s the opposite of how most live today… looking for the bad and pouncing on it.

Today’s verses say, “honor each other” (which could result from finding GOOD done by someone).  And to “work hard and serve the Lord enthusiastically” is what it might take to get out of the critical mode of living and into the “good finder” way of living.

Ponder that – and give it a try!

Prayer: LORD, you inspired Paul to write these words in these verses.  Please help me to see how I can implement them in my life and make a positive difference in the life of someone in my circle.  Amen.
