Day 36| CHOOSE WISELY
CHOOSE WISELY
Romans 5:8
"But God shows his love for us in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us."
With all the negative news about the "bad stuff" that is going on today, I am not surprised to see even good people get grumpy. I've noticed – as I'm sure you have too – an increase in SHORT tempers, sharper replies to simple questions, more aggravated drivers on the road, and even conversations with friends that often evolve into complaining about the world, our economy, or our government in some way.
So, where can you find real encouragement? Is there any real LOVE out there? What can you count on?
Well, you and I can count on, be encouraged by, and trust the Lord God.
And that should ENCOURAGE you and me!
Remember that God is the same yesterday, today, and forever. And God showed his love towards us – as today's verse tells us – EVEN when we didn't deserve it. Even when we were "still sinners."
So, let's consider your options on a typical day. You wake up, maybe put on the coffee, and sit down. Now, while you wait for the coffee, you have a choice to look at your phone, tablet, or television and start thinking about whatever is on. In each option, though, you have options. Your phone, tablet, or TV has options. You can read or listen to the latest news. Or you can read a novel, email, or text… or perhaps, maybe … you could read the Bible.
Now, whichever you choose, impacts the tone of your day.
If you ever watched Indiana Jones #3 with Harrison Ford and Sean Connery, in the end, the "knight" said about one man – "He chose poorly," and the other, "You have chosen wisely."
I encourage YOU to choose wisely as you start each new day.
Prayer: LORD, thank You for showing your love for me. Help me remember how important it is for me to start each day wisely with You. Amen.
