Day 33 | TAKE THESE ENCOURAGEMENT “PILLS”
40 Days of Encouragement
Day 33 | TAKE THESE ENCOURAGEMENT “PILLS”
TAKE THESE ENCOURAGEMENT “PILLS”
Psalm 118: 24, 29
“This is the day that the Lord has made; we will rejoice and be glad in it. Oh, give thanks to the Lord, for he is so good! For his loving-kindness is forever.” (TLB)
“Encouragement” means to PUT something good (“courage”) into one’s “heart.” The Bible says that the “heart” is part of man’s spiritual makeup. It’s where emotions and desires exist, which then cause our actions.
So, re-read today’s verses. (Out loud would be better!)
Let me tell you why I selected these verses for today’s devo because whenever I “take” (quote) one or both of these verses, I feel my spirit LIFT.
Let’s say that I’m in a situation causing me to feel discouraged, frustrated, or similar. Now, I have a CHOICE. I can continue to ponder that circumstance and get myself to feeling even MORE discouraged (the opposite of encouraged), OR I can read these verses and let their meaning and message flood my spirit. And when I do that, I soon feel encouraged, happier, and more joyous!
It’s a CHOICE. You can choose TO do that OR NOT to do that.
It depends on how serious you are about wanting to be ENCOURAGED or how satisfied you are with just staying discouraged.
It would help if you remembered that WE are in a battle. Every day, the enemy of our faith - Satan, the Thief - wants us to be discouraged and defeated.
John 10:10 says, “The Thief comes to kill, steal and destroy….” And one of the things he wants to destroy is YOUR happiness and joy!
Jesus said, “I have come that my JOY might be in you and that your JOY might be full.”
Read these verses often, and let the Lord help your soul to be joyful and encouraged!
Prayer: LORD, thank You for providing a way for me to get OUT of the dole drums when I’m in them. I’ll read these verses often. Amen.
