Day 28 | DELIVERANCE
DELIVERANCE

Psalm 34:4
“I sought the LORD, and he answered me; he delivered me from all my fears.”

Have you ever been skydiving? Like me, I suspect that most reading this have NOT been. But as I pondered that activity, it came to mind that once you JUMP, whether soloing or going with a pro strapped to your back, you are committed to the jump. No turning back, you're falling at between 160 and 300 MPH, and the ground is coming up P-R-E-T-T-Y FAST!   (They say that one minute of FREE fall is the most exciting 60 seconds ever!)

Many things in life are like that too. You make a decision, and – like it or not – there's no turning back. You may have made a good or a poor decision, but once you make it – like in skydiving – you're committed until you land!

Have you got something going on in your life NOW which is going like that? Faster and faster with no apparent exit?

Perhaps, you're missing the exit signs that DO exist for your situation. Maybe the rip cord CAN be pulled sooner and stop the rush of 100 mph plus winds. Perhaps the LORD has a way out for you and can deliver you. But as I talked about yesterday, you need to ASK.

In today's verse, the Psalmist (David) confesses that he “SOUGHT THE LORD.” He didn't just wait for God to do something; he sought the Lord out. He probably prayed, read Scripture, waited, and listened, but he was confident that the Lord God would DELIVER him.

Does that encourage YOUR heart? Does that possibility encourage you to PRAY more and to SEEK the Lord as David did?

Prayer: LORD, once again, Your Word instructs me to PRAY more and FEAR less. I find that encouraging, and I am thankful. Amen.
