Day 20 | INCREASING YOUR STRENGTH
INCREASING YOUR STRENGTH
Isaiah 40:29
“He gives strength to the weary, and to the one who lacks might He increases power.” (NASB)
Have you ever felt tired? (Well, of course, you have… everyone has.) But have you ever run out of energy when facing a task, a meeting, or something for which you needed to NOT be weary?
I’ve sometimes wondered why God made us need sleep. I mean, we sleep nearly a third of our lives! What more could we do if we didn’t need sleep?
But then God knows best, right? If we never got tired or sleepy, we would all keep chugging and chugging and doing and moving and be no further along in life.
In one respect, we are like our cars that need either a fill-up of gas or recharging at regular intervals. We need to rest and recharge our “batteries” daily.
But what about those special times when we need something extra? Maybe we’re facing an extraordinary time in our lives, an unexpected difficulty, or something similar. Then what?
Most people I know, at least those still working full-time, would admit they have little bandwidth for doing anything more than they currently do. They are as busy as possible and unable to get everything done they’d like to.
So, if you’re essentially “burning the candle at both ends,” your schedule seems full, and your energy is tapped-out and weary, then what? Where do you go if you need strength to help you get through whatever it is you’re going through?
You go to the LORD.
You stop, take time, perhaps kneel, and definitely pray! Ask Him for what you need. Remember.… “He gives strength to the weary, and to the one who lacks might He increases power.” And then don’t forget to say, “Thank You!”
Prayer: LORD, you are my ultimate source of strength and power to live life in a way pleasing to YOU. Thank You for being there for me. Amen.
