Day 14| HOPE, JOY, and PEACE
HOPE, JOY, and PEACE
Romans 15:13
“Now, may the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace in believing, that you may abound in hope by the power of the Holy Spirit.” (NKJV)
Can you remember a time when you needed some HOPE? Perhaps you had just received bad news about your health, a family member, your job, or something. You were feeling low, you were hurting, and you needed an injection of HOPE. Your JOY was also low and PEACE, perhaps non-existent.
Isn’t it interesting how all of these seem to go together: hope, joy, and peace?
In this series of devotionals on ENCOURAGEMENT, this prayer, this benediction, seems apropos.
So the question is – especially for anyone reading this who is hurting and needing an infusion of hope, joy, and peace – HOW do you receive them?
We have access to these powerhouse emotions through Jesus Christ. What was unthinkable to our Jewish forefathers – the idea of God being our Heavenly Father – is a reality to those of us in Christ today.
“Abound in hope” is also translated as “overflow” with hope in other translations. And that means having more than enough for your current situation… so much so that you have EXTRA hope with which you can share and encourage others!
If you’re currently facing a situation that requires God’s hope, joy and peace; considered GIVING those qualities away to someone else who may also have something they’re facing.
It’s funny, but GIVING to others who are hurting can be one of the fastest ways to get over and through whatever you’re going through. Instead of just wanting others to encourage YOU, I encourage you to find someone you know and encourage them.
Then look to the LORD to fill you with JOY, PEACE, and HOPE by the Holy Spirit.
Prayer: LORD, show me someone in my circle who needs encouragement and help me to be a vehicle of your joy and peace to them. My hope is in You! Amen.
