Day 7 | GOD IS FAITHFUL
GOD IS FAITHFUL
Genesis 28:15
“I am with you and will watch over you wherever you go, and I will bring you back to this land. I will not leave you until I have done what I have promised you.” (NIV)
The story is from a dream that Jacob, son of Isaac and grandson to Abraham, had as God confirmed His promise to Jacob.
Faithful. Not many are today. We see it all around us, a person says one thing and does another. A person makes a promise and thinks nothing of changing his mind later.
It’s probably because we have all had times when we’ve been promised something by someone and then had them blow it off, that we have trouble trusting God.
And yet the Scriptures say clearly: “God is not a man, so he does not lie. He is not human, so he does not change his mind. Has he ever spoken and failed to act? Has he ever promised and not carried it through?” (Numbers 23:19; NIV).
When we are lied to by a friend or family member, it’s hard to trust them again. But we err when we apply the same distrust to Almighty God.
So, if you’ve been hurt, let down, disappointed, or frustrated because of a broken promise by someone, let me suggest something which might help.
Don’t make the mistake of thinking that God is no better than the person who broke his promise to you. He’s GOD, and we’re NOT.
The problem I think many Believers may have, is they don’t know what God has promised them. And why? Because there are thousands of promises in the Word of God but, like panning for gold in the old days, you have to be patient and DO THE WORK it takes to find them. That means that we all need to READ God’s Word. Mark up the promise of God that speaks to you. Perhaps write them in a notebook. But spend the time, pan for God’s gold, and trust Him to do what He has promised.
Prayer: LORD, thank you for ALL of the things you promised in Your Word for ME! You ARE Faithful and True. Amen.
