40 Days Praying the PSALMS
Day 36 | COME AND SEE WHAT THE LORD HAS DONE!
40 Days Praying the PSALMS
Day 36 | COME AND SEE WHAT THE LORD HAS DONE!
COME AND SEE WHAT THE LORD HAS DONE!
Psalm 66:1-5
“Make a joyful shout to God, all the earth! Sing out the honor of His name; Make His praise glorious. Say to God, ‘How awesome are Your works … All the earth shall worship You and sing praises to You;They shall sing praises to Your name.’ Selah Come and see the works of God; He is awesome in His doing.” (NKJV)
If you’ve read much of the Bible, you’ve noticed that the LORD is always doing something to help, strengthen, protect, guide, or inspire His children. (And that is only a partial list!)
The author of this Psalm wanted to PRAISE God with a joyful shout in honor of His name. The Psalmist must have gotten inspired thinking about God’s WORKS, His POWER, and all His DOING.
And then, the Psalmist invites the listener to this Psalm – perhaps the singer of this Psalm – to “come and see the works of God.”
Many today WANT to believe, but like Doubting Thomas, they want to be convinced by SEEING something.
The very next verse in this Psalm says: “He turned the sea into dry land; They went through the river on foot.”
That Red Sea was something that over a million Jews, following Moses, saw and walked across on DRY land.
THEN, they were able to give thanks and praise His awesome works!
Years later, the children of the children of those who crossed the Red Sea were still sharing the story of what happened. It was a fact, not a daydream… and though the story had passed down from generation to generation, it did not diminish the power of the event to recall what “the Lord has done!”
How are YOU at remembering the things in your own life, things in the life of your friends, and things the Lord did in Scripture which were witnessed by others and written down?
Regularly remembering God’s blessing, leading, guiding, protecting or comforting, will help you be strong and faith filled.
Prayer: LORD, you have done a lot for me. Thank You for always being near and knowing and caring about my life. Amen.
