40 Days Praying the PSALMS
Day 25| THOUGH THE MOUNTAINS FALL INTO THE SEA
40 Days Praying the PSALMS
Day 25| THOUGH THE MOUNTAINS FALL INTO THE SEA
THOUGH THE MOUNTAINS FALL INTO THE SEA
Psalm 46:1-4
“God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble. Therefore we will not fear, even though the earth be removed, and though the mountains be carried into the midst of the sea; Though its waters roar and be troubled, Though the mountains shake with its swelling. Selah” (NKJV)
We are living in some interesting times. From the Old Testament times to the present, things have changed a lot. Consider in David’s time, there was NOTHING electronic (except lightning during a storm). Consider also… transportation was by foot – yours or a donkey perhaps. There was no refrigeration, so that impacted food storage; and on and on.
One consistent thing, though, is Almighty God. He is still the same, and as David says, “God is our refuge and strength.”
Another consistent thing, though, is trouble. Every age has its challenges. Plagues and diseases were consistent in David’s time (for which there were no antibiotics), and we have nuclear weapons and superbugs today.
You may be wondering… OK, so what’s the point.
The point is that WE need God as much as David ever did.
And then, he gave an analogy of how much he believed and KNEW he could rely on Almighty God to rescue him:
Picture the mountains shaking (think earthquakes) so much that they fall into the ocean and all the waters… the lakes, rivers, and oceans roaring like being hit by the worst storm you have ever seen. But, even amidst all that, David – and we – can depend on the LORD to take him through whatever is going on.
If your faith is not entirely at David’s level, let me say… it CAN be. That faith is not just for the “superstars,” but for every child of God. David spent time building his faith, and we can do the same.
Prayer: LORD, You’ve said in your word… “the just shall live by faith.” Help me to grow my faith to be strong. Amen.
