40 Days Praying the PSALMS
Day 24| HE LIFTED ME OUT
40 Days Praying the PSALMS
Day 24| HE LIFTED ME OUT
HE LIFTED ME OUT
Psalm 40:1-5
“I waited patiently for the Lord to help me, and he turned to me and heard my cry. He lifted me out of the pit of despair, out of the mud and the mire. He set my feet on solid ground and steadied me as I walked along. He has given me a new song to sing, a hymn of praise to our God. Many will see what he has done and be amazed. They will put their trust in the Lord. Oh, the joys of those who trust the Lord … If I tried to recite all your wonderful deeds, I would never come to the end of them.” (NLT)
Have you ever been stuck? Maybe not literally like with a car in mud, but stuck with a life problem?
One of the challenging things we must learn is how to WAIT. From the time we’re little children, we all typically do NOT like waiting.
I remember one Christmas, my sisters and I (we were all little) got up at (I think) about 3:30 am to wake the folks to come open presents! Our wise parents allowed each of us to open one gift – then – go BACK to bed until the sun was up. (We don’t like to wait!)
When we’re in “the mud of life,” we don’t like waiting either, but if we walk with the Lord, He’ll get us out at the RIGHT TIME. And often with us – as it was with David – when we DO get out, get rescued, others around us will SEE and “be amazed” and perhaps “put their trust in the LORD.”
Then David closes in typical David fashion, “Oh the joys of those who trust in the Lord.” And everyone I know wants to be FULL of joy!
Prayer: LORD, thank You for always having my back. You know everything I’m going through, will go through, and have gone through. And You’re with me always and rescue me at just the right time. Thank You for all of that – and MORE! Amen.
