40 Days Praying the PSALMS
Day 11| DAVID PRAISES THE LORD FOR RESCUE
40 Days Praying the PSALMS
Day 11| DAVID PRAISES THE LORD FOR RESCUE
DAVID PRAISES THE LORD FOR RESCUE
From Psalm 18
“I love you, Lord; you are my strength. The Lord is my rock, my fortress, and my savior; my God is my rock, in whom I find protection. He is my shield, the power that saves me, and my place of safety.”
“God’s way is perfect. All the Lord’s promises prove true. He is a shield for all who look to him for protection.” (NLT)
I can’t imagine how difficult it must have been for David to be running and hiding from a king and battling his own fears and “what if’s?” My guess is that you are NOT running from a king and his army set on killing you… but what with all that is going on in your life, around you, in the country and the world, the “what-ifs” are still playing loudly in your mind.
And that is just how our enemy works. He has been whispering “what if” and other doubts to God’s people ever since the Garden. He’s a MASTER and knows where you “itch,” so to speak.
With the king chasing David around the country, it was clear where the enemy would strike. But with you and me, it’s probably something else. A bad health report for you or a family member, a downturn in your company, higher prices that strain your budget, a concern about the country's general direction, or any one of a hundred other things can be used by our common enemy to cause FEAR.
And then, David gives us an example of how to handle it by saying (or singing) to the Lord about His strength, being his rock, fortress, savior, shield, and more.
Re-read all of Psalm 18 when you get a chance and let David’s model become your own.
Prayer: LORD, YOU are my rock, fortress, savior, protection, and shield. Thank You that I can cling to you amid the uncertainty and worries of the day. I need Your protection, and I receive it now. Amen.
