40 Days Praying the PSALMS
Day 5 | LORD, CAN WE TALK?
40 Days Praying the PSALMS
Day 5 | LORD, CAN WE TALK?
LORD, CAN WE TALK?
Psalm 5:1-3, 7-8
“O Lord, hear me as I pray; pay attention to my groaning. Listen to my cry for help, my King and my God, for I pray to no one but you. Listen to my voice in the morning, Lord. Each morning I bring my requests to you and wait expectantly.”
“Because of your unfailing love, I can enter your house; I will worship at your Temple with deepest awe. Lead me in the right path, O Lord, or my enemies will conquer me. Make your way plain for me to follow.” (nlt)
Here, once again, David is pleading to God for help. And we learn that God also hears our groanings (sighings, laments, or meditations in other translations). The point is that prayer is not just talking TO God; it is a way we can be personal with God, intimate with Him. I mean, He already knows everything, so why not just tell Him that you know that He knows that you messed up again and/or need His help?
David enjoyed talking with God in the morning, bringing his requests to Almighty God.
David also recognized that God is LOVE. More than God has love; God IS love, and thus, God's love is unfailing. Like returning to your parent's home when you are an adult, you'll always be welcomed; God will also receive our coming into His house (spiritually) by praying to Him at any time, any place, about anything. God received David's prayers and laments, and David recognized that God was wiser than he was and could lead him on the right path, allowing him to avoid his enemies who wanted to destroy him.
Prayer: LORD, like David, I too need to talk with You. I sometimes am hurting too, so help me, Lord, to be more like David and bring everything I'm going through to You. And then help me, Lord, to be still and listen for Your answer. To seek Your guidance. And sometimes Lord, I'm a little slow, so please make your path plain for me to follow. Amen.
