Day 2 | THE POSITIVE CHOICE
THE POSITIVE CHOICE

Psalm 1:2
“But his delight is in the law of the Lord, and in His law he meditates day and night.”
 (NKJV)

What do you think about the Bible?  Is it important to you?  Do you depend on it, read it, study it, and want to apply it?  Or is it something that you keep on a shelf and your pastor quotes from on Sundays during his message?

David – who was NOT a perfect man – was nonetheless uniquely called a “man after God’s own heart.” And David wrote this verse as encouragement and instruction for you and me.  Psalm 1:1 tells us that this is what the one who wants to be BLESSED does.  And the Amplified Bible tells us that “blessed” means: happy, fortunate, prosperous, and enviable.  (And who doesn’t want that?) David wanted that and loved God’s “law” (the Bible).

The Bible is a LIVING book, written by men, yes, but under the guidance of the Holy Spirit:
2 Peter 1:21 says: “For prophecy never had its origin in the human will, but prophets, though human, spoke from God as they were carried along by the Holy Spirit.”

So when you open your Bible, you’re reading words inspired by the Holy Spirit.  That’s what makes the Bible such an extraordinary book, the #1 best seller EVERY year, and what makes the Word of God “alive and powerful and sharper than any two-edged sword” (Hebrews 4:12).

David tells us in Psalm 1 that God’s Word can make all the difference in your life, BUT (and here’s a big but) – you’ve got to read it, ponder it, and meditate on it.  Hearing it at church is GREAT, but not enough – if you want God to cause you to be “BLESSED.”

Again, you and I have choices.  Even with these devotionals – filled with God’s Word – you can read or listen to them… or not.  Easy to do, easy not to do.  Take delight in God’s Word and be blessed!
Prayer: LORD, I want the blessings you have in store for me, and I understand that Your Word is a part of that.  Please help me to read and meditate on it every day.  Amen.
