40 Reasons God DELIGHTS in YOU

BECOMING CHRIST-LIKE
Philippians 1:3-6
“Every time I think of you, I give thanks to my God. Whenever I pray, I make my requests for all of you with joy, for you have been my partners in spreading the Good News about Christ from the time you first heard it until now. And I am certain that God, who began the good work within you, will continue his work until it is finally finished on the day when Christ Jesus returns.” (NLT)
Years ago, I remembered people wearing a badge with nine letters that read: PBPGIFWMY.
When asked the meaning, the wearer would reply: “Please Be Patient; God Isn’t Finished With Me Yet!”
Cute, funny, clever, and TRUE for all of us, right?
We are not done growing and maturing in Christ UNTIL we become like Jesus in all aspects (and I doubt many reading this would be able to say “I’ve arrived!”).
Consider for a moment how Jesus prayed. It was not something he had to be reminded to do. He did it because he wanted and needed the contact, the connection with His (and our) Heavenly Father ALL the time.
Consider, also, how Jesus ministered to the sick. Whether physical, mental, emotional, or spiritual, Jesus invited them to come to Him and even went so far as to seek them out. He was determined to fight against the devil and the sickness he brings to the world.
And consider how Jesus ministered in the temple and how he taught his followers. He ministered God’s Word to them and explained what it meant and how it applied to life.
That’s a short list that can get us started in seeing how FAR we have yet to go to be ultimately like Christ. But don’t worry, we’ll be “finally finished on the day Christ Jesus returns!”
Prayer: Lord, thank You for being patient with me. I know I’m better than I was, but I have a way to go. Help me day by day to think, act and live more like you. Amen.
