40 Reasons God DELIGHTS in YOU
Day 16 | WE ARE BECOMING LIKE JESUS
WE ARE BECOMING LIKE JESUS
2 Corinthians 3:18
“And we all, with unveiled face, beholding the glory of the Lord, are being transformed into the same image from one degree of glory to another. For this comes from the Lord who is the Spirit.” (ESV)
Have you ever remodeled your home? Or perhaps just decided to repaint a room? How did you go about it?
First, I would imagine that you got an IDEA of what you wanted to change. Maybe you needed a new window here, a new door there, a wall, a closet, taking down a wall or a cabinet, etc. Then you figured the cost and the time it would take and found someone who could do the job… or you did it yourself.
And WHY did you decide to change things? You probably figured they needed changing and the improvements imagined were good.
God is like that with us too. We accept Jesus as Lord and Savior and then God goes about “remodeling” us to look like Jesus. He knows the improvements will be good!
In the verse above, the Apostle Paul is referencing Moses coming down the mountain after meeting with God… and his face was shining. So much so that they had him put on a veil. But for us living in under the New Covenant, nothing obstructs our vision of Jesus Christ and His glory as revealed in God’s Word.
The good news is that “He who began a good work in you will continue to complete it…” (Phil 1:6), and so, as we look at Christ, we gradually and continually become more and more like Jesus Himself. We call this Christlikeness, which is the ultimate goal for every Believer.
Prayer: Lord, sometimes I feel like I have a long way to go, but I want to thank you that although I may not see improvements as often as I’d like, you never give up on me. I am thankful that you are working to transform me into the image of your Son, Jesus. Amen.
