40 Reasons God DELIGHTS in YOU
Day 6 | YOU ARE ONE OF GOD’S FIRST-FRUITS
YOU ARE ONE OF GOD’S FIRST-FRUITS
James 1:18
“Of his own will he brought us forth by the word of truth, that we should be a kind of first-fruits of his creatures.” (ESV)
Have you ever wondered WHY God saved you? It certainly wasn’t because you were perfect (none are). It wasn’t because you were smart or attractive or wealthy or poor or a good talker or writer or a good family person or church-goer or anything else you may have done to date.
This verse shows how important you are to HIM. It was by HIS OWN WILL that He saved you and you became like “a kind of first-fruit.”
As “first-fruit” believers, we exemplify God’s power of salvation and His will. We were born by the blood of the Lamb (Jesus), and we have holy standing before God.
As “first-fruit” we are a testimony to God’s saving power. We should present ourselves for God’s service.
As Romans 12:1 tells us: “I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that you present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable to God, which is your reasonable service.” (NKJV)
We should share the Good News with others and prayerfully help them to come to accept Jesus as their Lord and Savior.
We should have a sanctifying effect on those with whom we contact.
We should be as “salt” and “light” in this world.
Since God calls us “first fruits,” we have the guarantee of the Spirit of God that we have been redeemed and will see the future redemption of our bodies – at the Second Coming of Jesus – and eventually will reside in the New Heaven and New Earth in our new bodies!
Prayer: Heavenly Father, I am so thankful that I am one of your children. I am so grateful that I can look forward to eternity with You in heaven and that You have trusted me to be like a “first-fruit” for You here in this world. Lead me in the way You would have me to go. Amen.
