JESUS AND THE BLIND MAN

John 9
1 As he went along, he saw a man blind from birth.  (Jesus said) “As long as it is day, we must do the works of him who sent me. Night is coming, when no one can work. While I am in the world, I am the light of the world.”
25He (the blind man) replied (to the Pharisees), “Whether he is a sinner or not, I don’t know. One thing I do know. I was blind but now I see!”
35 Jesus heard that they had thrown him out, and when he found him, he said, “Do you believe in the Son of Man?”   “Who is he, sir?” the man asked. “Tell me so that I may believe in him.”  Jesus said, “You have now seen him; in fact, he is the one speaking with you.”  Then the man said, “Lord, I believe,” and he worshiped him.”

(NIV)

Have you ever seen a miracle? Maybe it’s easier if I ask, have you ever had a prayer answered?
John 9 is the story of Jesus healing a man born blind at birth. Of all our five senses, sight is the most highly valued. Yet this man had never had it.

Jesus though is walking along and sees the blind man and desires for the works of God to be seen. Thus, Jesus makes a little mud, puts it on his eyes, and tells the man to go wash in the pool of Siloam. The man does (which took faith), and he sees!

True to their religious character, the Pharisees are unbelieving and mostly upset that Jesus did this on the Sabbath. (Legalists – like the Pharisees – are always concerned chiefly about the letter of the law, not the spirit.)

The result was a seeing man, who worshipped the Living Savior, Jesus the Christ.

Prayer: LORD, thank You for all you’ve done for me. All the answered prayers—all the comfort, peace, and love you provide. But mostly, that I am one of your children. Amen.
