Day 40 | BE STILL AND KNOW THAT I AM GOD | Psalm 46:10-11
BE STILL AND KNOW THAT I AM GOD
Psalm 46:10-11
“Be still, and know that I am God; I will be exalted among the nations,
I will be exalted in the earth! The Lord of hosts is with us; The God of Jacob is our refuge. Selah”
We all live busy lives today. Compared to centuries ago, there are and unlimited number of things we can do, choices we have, information to read, watch or listen to, and places we can go. It is EASY to be so busy with activities that we can’t seem to find time to read the Word, pray to God, think, ponder, reflect, relax.
I often quote the opening of these verses; “Be still, and know that I am God.”
But, how often do we STOP the treadmill of our lives and do that?
As discovered in this 40 Days of Prayer series, we don’t always have to pray LONG prayers to God. Jesus didn’t always, nor do we. BUT, Jesus – our Lord and model for life – DID often get away from the noise and crowds of His day, get quiet and then spend quality time with God the Father.
As we read the rest of these verses, we are assured again (and we need that assurance today as much as they did back when the Psalms were written) that God – Almighty God – will be exalted among the nations and on the earth! As we believe in Christ and put our trust in God, we are on the WINNING TEAM! (Read the back of the Bible – the book of Revelation. With Christ, we WIN!)
The world today is as messy and broken as I can ever remember in my life, but we need NOT FEAR. HE is God. He is with us. He is our refuge, and as we STILL ourselves, we can experience His Perfect Peace (Shalom, Shalom) and then SELAH (pause, ponder, reflect and rejoice.)
Prayer: Lord, I need you. I need to “Be still” and remember that YOU are God and that I’m Your child. Thank you for that comfort. I am trusting and resting in You. Amen.
