OUR DIVINE PRAYER HELPER
Romans 8:26-28
“Now in the same way the Spirit also helps our weakness; for we do not know what to pray for as we should, but the Spirit Himself intercedes for us with groanings too deep for words; 27 and He who searches the hearts knows what the mind of the Spirit is, because He intercedes for the saints according to the will of God. And we know that God causes all things to work together for good to those who love God, to those who are called according to His purpose.”
How often have you started to pray and couldn’t find the right words? Maybe you have an issue, a person, a health need, or something, but you’re weak or just don’t know how to pray.
Well, WE are blessed! Because here in Romans 8, God’s Word teaches us that we have the HOLY SPIRIT Himself who will pray with us and for us. He will intercede for us (talking to God the Father on our behalf) with special groanings, which I’m guessing only God (Father, Son, and Spirit) understand.
Further, we’re taught that the SPIRIT intercedes with us – to the Father – according to the WILL of God!
Whew! That means that even at times when I don’t know how to pray (and there are times like that) the Spirit DOES KNOW and will intercede FOR ME most appropriately.
This puts a fuller context on Romans 8:28, which we all quote regularly. “And we know that God causes ALL THINGS to work together for good to those who love God, to those called according to His purpose.”
If you are a Believer in Christ, then you have been “called according to His purpose” – which was to get you to accept Jesus as your Lord and Savior and become part of the Family of God.
Prayer: LORD, it is a fantastic relief to know that I have the Holy Spirit to help me pray effectively and on target. Thank You for that and that everything in my life has a divine purpose. Amen.
