40 Days of NEW with GOD
Day 35 | A BETTER COVENANT
A BETTER COVENANT

Hebrews 8:6-8
“But in fact the ministry Jesus has received is as superior to theirs as the covenant of which he is mediator is superior to the old one, since the new covenant is established on better promises. For if there had been nothing wrong with that first covenant, no place would have been sought for another. But God found fault with the people and said: ‘The days are coming, declares the Lord, when I will make a new covenant with the people of Israel and with the people of Judah.’”

Under the Old Covenant – the Old Testament – an earthly priest went into the Holy of Holies annually as the “mediator” to obtain forgiveness from sin for ALL of God’s people by taking the steps God told Moses to follow when He gave him the law.

Consider the difference under Jesus, the Mediator of the Greater New Covenant. “Mediator” means the one who stands in the middle between two people and brings them together.

Moses was that initially under the Old Covenant, but Jesus is a much better Mediator.

The Mosaic covenant was a step in God’s redemptive plan. (See Exodus 24)
The Davidic covenant was yet another step. (See 2 Samuel 22)
And Jesus Christ fulfilled the redemptive plan of God under the New Covenant (see Luke 22)

Note too, that the New Covenant was established on BETTER PROMISES.

The Old Covenant was good; it was how God reconciled His people with Himself. But when God’s Word says NEW, unlike media ads, He means NEW.

Consider today how simple it is to obtain forgiveness for transgressions and sins from God the Father. 1 John 1:9 – the “Christians’ bar of soap,” as I call it, is available 24/7 when we need to clear things up with God, not just ONCE a year at the annual sacrifice.

Rejoice that you’re living under the new “rule book,” so to speak. The New Covenant is the better covenant, the one founded in Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior.

Prayer: Thank You Lord for sending Jesus to be my Lord and Savior. Amen.
