Day 25 | THE NEW FOURTH DAY

THE NEW FOURTH DAY
Genesis 1:14-19
“Then God said, ‘Let lights appear in the sky to separate the day from the night. Let them be signs to mark the seasons, days, and years. Let these lights in the sky shine down on the Earth.’ And that is what happened. God made two great lights—the larger one to govern the day, and the smaller one to govern the night. He also made the stars. God set these lights in the sky to light the Earth, to govern the day and night, and to separate the light from the darkness. And God saw that it was good. And evening passed and morning came, marking the fourth day.”
What season is it right NOW as you read (or listen to) this devotional? Winter, Spring, Summer, or Fall? Have you ever thought about how BORING it would be without the change of seasons? Even if it were 72 degrees 24 hours a day, 365 days a year, you’d eventually be bored.
I also enjoy that God made the sun, moon, stars, planets, comets, asteroids, and so on to make the night sky fascinating!
Once again, we worship a God of infinite variety, and He made the Earth JUST the right distance from the sun so that LIFE could survive and thrive on this planet.
When I was a young boy, my folks bought me a simple telescope, and I used to look at the moon often! What beauty: the craters, the different phases of the moon, and so on. I sometimes think we MIGHT perhaps be able to get along without the moon, but I wouldn’t want to. It’s so interesting!
Prayer: LORD, thank You for all the variety You’ve given us in the sky AND how You created the sun to be JUST the proper distance from Earth to allow life here to flourish! Amen.
