40 Days of NEW with GOD
Day 23 | GOD’S NEW LAND AND SEA
GOD’S NEW LAND AND SEA

Genesis 1:6-10
“And God said, ‘Let there be a vault between the waters to separate water from water.’ So God made the vault and separated the water under the vault from the water above it. And it was so.  God called the vault ‘sky.’ And there was evening, and there was morning—the second day. And God said, ‘Let the water under the sky be gathered to one place, and let dry ground appear.’ And it was so.  God called the dry ground ‘land,’ and the gathered waters he called ‘seas.’ And God saw that it was good.”

Our Creator God is very creative! Not only did He create the heavens (and all the stars, planets, and solar systems) and the earth, and LIGHT and darkness, but here He is creating something NEW again… the LAND and the SEA.

Everyone knows about LAND. We walk on it every day. My wife and I take occasional little hikes (with our dog) around the neighborhood and nearby hills and lakes. I have an APP on my phone that shows me all the trails that exist here in America, and just scanning through some of them makes me appreciate again how much variety there is on this planet.

Then, too, when we take a cruise or have a driving vacation and see a tiny fraction of some of the lakes, rivers, and oceans that exist, I am amazed at again how much variety our God put into all of this.

When we are little and do “artwork” in elementary school, most of us draw very awful (but perhaps good for the average six-year-old) examples of the world in which we live. Our lakes and oceans and islands and mountains look – well – like that of a six-year-old. (And for me, it never got any better!)

Again, praise God for His incredible creativity.

Prayer: LORD, thank You for your idea about this new part of creation – the land and the seas. Pondering all of this can be overwhelming – and gratitude-invoking. Amen.
