Day 22 | GOD CREATES SOMETHING NEW: LIGHT
GOD CREATES SOMETHING NEW: LIGHT
Genesis 1:2-5
“Now the earth was formless and empty, darkness was over the surface of the deep, and the Spirit of God was hovering over the waters. And God said, ‘Let there be light,’ and there was light. God saw that the light was good, and he separated the light from the darkness. God called the light ‘day,’ and the darkness he called ‘night.’ And there was evening, and there was morning—the first day.”
Have you recently considered how invaluable LIGHT is? Probably 99.999% of the world takes it for granted. Studies show that for a BLIND person – especially one who was born with sight and has lost it and who now lives in darkness – adjusting is next to impossible.
US Government study by NIH shows that humans glean 70% of the information about the environment from the sense of sight, and thus losing one’s sight usually leads to lack of confidence, isolation, stress, anxiety, panic, loneliness, low self-esteem, depression suicidal thoughts and even suicide.
How marvelous that our Lord God – knowing that you and I would be coming one day – created something new; created LIGHT. And not ALL 24 hours a day, but half the day LIGHT and half NIGHT.
Would YOU have thought of that if you had been God? I doubt I would have, but then – again, as I often say – He’s God, and we’re NOT.
I also like how God created the light… the SUN by day and the stars and moon and planets (reflecting) by night. What marvelous variety, what interesting skies (both day and night). What an incredible design!
Prayer: LORD God, thank You for LIGHT and daytime and nighttime. I can’t remember the last time – if ever – I’ve thanked YOU for that part of creation and the creativity that only YOU could have provided. We are sooooo thankful. Amen.
