Day 19 | ­A NEW SONG IN HEAVEN

A NEW SONG IN HEAVEN

Revelation 5:6-10
“And I looked, and behold, in the midst of the throne and of the four living creatures, and in the midst of the elders, stood a Lamb as though it had been slain … Then He came and took the scroll out of the right hand of Him who sat on the throne. Now when He had taken the scroll, the four living creatures and the twenty-four elders fell down before the Lamb, each having a harp, and golden bowls full of incense, which are the prayers of the saints. And they sang a new song, saying: ‘You are worthy to take the scroll, and to open its seals; for You were slain, and have redeemed us to God by Your blood. Out of every tribe and tongue and people and nation, and have made us kings and priests to our God; and we shall reign on the earth.’”

Here, we have a particularly moving scene in heaven where John (the recorder of the Revelation) writes about the Lamb (Jesus Christ) who had been slain, Who was the ONLY one who could have taken the scroll (from the Father), broken the seals, and opened it. He alone redeemed us to God by HIS blood and made us (we Christians) “a kingdom of priests to God to reign with God’s Son.”

There is a new 21st-century song – “Is He Worthy?” (by Andrew Peterson), which beautifully and powerfully expresses this fantastic scene in words and music.
 
Notice that the four living creators AND the 24 elders fall down before the LAMB, each having a harp, and “they sang a new song.”
 
Once again, we see the need for a NEW SONG to celebrate this coming NEW DAY.

Prayer: LORD, thank You for giving us Followers of Jesus plenty of reasons to be joyful and SING to You.  Thank You for all You do for us. Amen.
